Valerie Costa, Founder of Aril Consulting

Home base: Seattle, WA
I love the strategy, the pace, the excitement of connecting people with passion for a cause to an organization that will put their money and/or time into action.
After nearly six years of contributing in various capacities at Sound Generations in Seattle I took a sabbatical from my position as Vice President/Chief Development Officer to fulfill one of my life's dreams - to travel. My partner and I traveled for seven months through Europe & Asia, and upon our return we moved to Central Vermont so I could take classes in sustainable design/build at Yestermorrow Design/Build school. After a couple years in North Carolina, I decided to move back to Seattle. Since founding Aril Consulting in 2011, I have worked with organizations on both coasts-- start-ups and established non-profits, orgs with small and large budgets, a team of development staff and no dedicated development staff, and many different focuses, from education to social justice. I took a 1.5 year break from Aril Consulting from 2020-2021 to take on the role of interim Executive Director of 350 Seattle, a really amazing grassroots climate action organization. Through my volunteer, consulting, and staff work at 350 Seattle I helped to build the organization into a powerful political force in Seattle.
I am excited to share my organizational leadership experience with you and help your organization achieve its goals.
